Wyoming

I visited Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, and the Grand Teton National Park last week and I had never been to Wyoming before. I was overwhelmed by the natural beauty everywhere, I am so inspired to paint!

Landing at the Jackson Hole airport, the Tetons are right there. These mountains are dramatic like no other mountains I have seen; the jagged, granite mountain-tops were blunt and crisp against the clear blue sky.

I returned home a few days ago and I was ready to jump into painting.
It helped that I had time to sketch on some of our hikes. These small studies are wonderful reminders of the first hand experience being there.

I am new to hiking and it was so exhilarating, the thrill of the challenge, the steep climbs that led to incredible views… I am sharing just a few photos.

The perspective of seeing the hikers against the backdrop of shades of green cascading down the mountainside made me realize how big this mountain range is.

I am still in awe.

Next month I resume teaching at the Peninsula School of Art. The first “TRY-IT” workshop is soft pastels on July 6. Additional class offerings for watercolor, gouache, and a full day of soft pastel are also listed in the link below:

I’m also exhibiting in three summer festivals, my show schedule here –

I love being busy creating and painting, I had no idea a visit to Wyoming would have such an impact.
