Heading into Autumn

My favorite time of year is here, my favorite colors are everywhere!

It becomes a personal mission when I see an array of colors, capturing the leaves right before they fall, and to photograph the palette of Autumn. I love the tactile qualities achieved when painting with wax, and many of these new paintings use encaustic medium combined with oil sticks.

Above, I have repurposed a sample cabinet door, used for the painting surface and frame. You can see the entire series here as it continues to develop – repurposed panels

The colors of nature, I always take some artistic liberties to enhance the painting outcome. I also have new miniature paintings, sharing one of my favorites below, also reflects a recurring theme in my work … roads and pathways.

All of the miniature paintings are floated on foam core, mounted on watercolor paper, and displayed in shadowbox frames.

I have been restocking my Etsy shop too, in preparation for the holiday season. You can see all of the available works here – Etsy

I’ll be offering a TryIt encaustic painting workshop next month at PenArt, details here – TryIt:Encaustic

And if you love painting with wax, I am offering weekly encaustic painting classes starting in January at the Artisan Center in Green Bay, you can find details here – weekly classes

All supplies are included in both the workshop and weekly class, it’s an excellent way to learn about encaustic medium and have fun with like minded creatives.
